A framed weekly menu board with floral background shows meal plans for each day. Small cards clipped under initials M to S list dishes like pizza and pasta—perfect inspiration if you’re wondering how to make a meal plan board yourself.

How To Make A Meal Plan Board From A Photo Frame

As a Mum to 3 kids and knowing I need to keep on top of our food budget, I’ve found meal planning to be one of the best ways to save money and to stop food waste. Each week we will plan out a week’s worth of meals, which doesn’t necessarily mean we will stick to having it on a certain day. That usually depends on the best before dates on the food when it’s delivered! We can make sure the food we have is going to be used, no more rush runs to the shop as I haven’t got all the ingredients as we have every part of the meal here.

But when you’re meal planning you need to make sure you can stay organised with it, also great at letting everyone know in the house what’s for dinner this week…rather than being asked for the 20th time!! So I created my own meal plan board with days of the week, labels, and a little pocket to place the dinner labels in.

Placing the meal plan board in the kitchen means it is quick and easy to access and looks nice in there too.

Making the board is really quick and simple, once you’ve found your photo frame that works with your own interiors you can line it with something that coordinates with your room. The one I made has a fabric behind the glass as this worked with my room, but wallpaper would be brilliant for this.

Use your stick-on labels to add a title to the top, and days of the week running down the edge of the frame from top to bottom.

Stick on the craft pegs next to the days of the week, making sure you have enough room for the dinner ideas labels to sit next to them.

I then added a little card pocket to the bottom of the frame to be able to store the dinner ideas, this one was a little flat, so I suggest you make it deeper like a matchbox. By doing this also makes meal planning quicker as you can just get out all your dinner suggestions and pick out 7 for the week much quicker.

You then need to make a printout of all your different dinner ideas, I used printed ones and made them up using a word document, but you could also just cut out labels and handwrite them on.

Once you’ve done all that you finished and are ready to start planning out your family’s meals for the week.
